Stefan Mayer

Going Green
Photography is painting with light. This is exactly what Stefan Mayer does, he paints with light. He found the motifs for this exhibition in allotment gardens on the banks of the river Rems. They depict happiness, transience, love and death. The gardens and the people are part of nature, people live in and for nature, they shape it and it nurtures them. Stefan Mayer eschews the loud, the brightly coloured, the obvious. Softly, cautiously, he leads us deep into the soul of the gardens that may be sometimes menacing, sometimes puzzling, intensive and powerful.

Stefan Mayer, born in 1957, lives and works as a director and photographer in Stuttgart. Having trained in the theatre, he has engaged with the theme of light for over 40 years. His photos are all unique items.
