The Pfinzgaumuseum in the Karlsburg Durlach presents in the special exhibition "Aufgetischt! 300 Years of Durlach Faience", the Pfinzgaumuseum in Karlsburg Durlach presents selected works of the Durlach Faience Manufactory. The factory was founded in 1723 with margravial privilege and soon enjoyed an excellent reputation. In the more than 100 years of its existence, its diverse products were known and sought after far beyond Durlach. On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of its foundation, the Pfinzgaumuseum is dedicating a special exhibition to this important Durlach company.
The focus is on the wide product range of the manufactory, which is presented by means of selected specimens. The presentation shows the impressive variety of shapes and decorations of the faiences produced in Durlach, ranging from exotic scenes from the Far East and colorful flora and fauna to idyllic landscapes and detailed scenes of everyday life. In addition, the exhibition provides interesting information about the elaborate manufacturing process of the faiences as well as about the history, employees and customers of the Durlach manufactory.
