The brandy of Alsace

Alsace schnaps is a traditional product which occupies an important position in the regional culture. Schnaps used to be produced by individual families, usually for its therapeutic and digested qualities, but nowadays it is made mainly by professional distilleries, which offer the public a wide range of high-quality products.

How is schnaps made, what properties did our ancestors claim for it and how is it drunk today? The Schnaps-Idee exhibition, staged in partnership with local distillers, has an answer to all these questions.
