Industrialisation is the most important development in economic history. Without electricity there would be no modern economy.
This exhibition focuses on the development of the European electric network system at the original site. It shows the ground-breaking invention by the two Swiss electricity pioneers Agostino Nizzola and Charles E.L. Brown of an interconnection system of power plants, thus making it possible to transport electricity over long distances. The power plant Rheinfelden, for example, as the then largest power plant in Europe, was already able to supply the city of Basel with electricity.
The exhibition is a contribution to the project 'Zeitsprungindustrie' in the network INDUSTRIEWELT AARGAU.
The network 'Industriewelt Aargau' shows the industrial culture of the canton of Aargau often noticed as rural.
The aim of this venture is to make the general public aware of the important role of industry in the past and present of the canton of Aargau and thus to promote the preservation, documentation and development of the industrial heritage
Im Zentrum steht das Kraftwerk und die Stromgeschichte, die die Pioniere Agostino Nizzola und Charles E.L.Brown geschrieben haben.
