Otto Eberle. Painter, Graphic Artist and Teacher
When Otto Eberle died on 23 December 1981 in Schwäbisch Gmünd, the town where he was born, his name had become virtually synonymous with commercial art and church painting - and also for teaching activities. On the occasion of Otto Eberle's 110th birthday, the exhibition grants insight into the diverse work of the painter and graphic artist with artworks from his estate.
Otto Eberle, born in 1909, worked in various spheres: as a commercial artist with his own office, as a freelance artist, as a designer of church windows and as a teacher of drawing and art education in schools. Just as wide-ranging as his activities is the palette of his works, extending over painting and drawing, illustrations and linocuts, sgraffitos and lead glazing.
