Opera as the World

The quest for a total work of art
Exhibitions

The exhibition is a testimony of the encounter between the visual arts and the operatic genre since the beginning of the 20th century. A total work of art, where all the senses are brought together, opera also serves as a forum for social and political demands. From Richard Wagner to the most recent staged productions, Opera as the World attempts to restore that bewitching capacity to move and to thrill, whilst showing how opera is in the end a symbol of liberty, and of new utopias to be shared.

Exhibition mounted alongside the celebration of the 350 years of the Opéra National de Paris
