"The Mothers of the Basic Law"
"Men and women shall have equal rights" - these words are right at the beginning of our Basic Law from the year 1949. Yet without the four politicians Frida Nadig, Elisabeth Selbert, Helene Weber and Helene Wessel, who were working in the Parliamentary Council on the German Constitution, this formulation would not have materialised. The exhibition pays tribute to these politicians and showcases the history of the legal equality of women in Germany.
An exhibition by the Helene Weber Kolleg and the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.
