The Monks' Treasure - Living and Researching in Saint Blaise Abbey
Milestones of early scholarship and masterpieces of medieval art: in its almost thousand-year history, the Benedictine Abbey of St. Blaise in the southern Black Forest developed into an internationally renowned site of research and assembled an outstanding art collection. After its dissolution in 1806, its inventory found its way to St. Paul's Abbey in Austria. Now the world-famous collection is returning to its home region. Gold work, book illuminations, rare textiles and ivory work, baroque gems, paintings and sculptures.
