Monika Sosnowska

The sculptor Monika Sosnowska is one of the best-known contemporary artists. Her often room-filling sculptures and installations made of steel, concrete or other building materials deal with the legacy of modernism, especially the modern architecture of the 20th century and its social and political promises of progress. Sosnowska grew up in socialist Poland and experienced the country's transformation into a market-based democracy, observing the resulting dynamic and often tense changes in society and the environment that continue to have an impact today. In addition to an overview of Sosnowska's œuvre, the exhibition also includes new works as well as studies, sculptural designs and materials.
