Leipziger Schule

Erich Kissing, Leif Borges, Frank Hauptvogel, Michael Triegel

The Leipziger Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst (Academy of Fine Arts, Leipzig), whose reputation was established by Bernhard Heisig, Wolfgang Mattheuer and Werner Tübke as the "Leipziger Schule", is still producing remarkable artists - such as Leif Borges, Frank Hauptvogel, Erich Kissing and Michael Triegel. They all have in common a masterly command of painting technique as well as the combination of representational motifs with abstract, often symbolist themes and a reflective, melancholy underlying atmosphere.

With over 80 works, the exhibition grants insight into the abundance of the Leipziger tradition.
