Klaus Rinke: One degree less in rotation

Exhibitions
Werk in schwarz, weiß, graue
Some works of art go beyond every frame and are so large that they can only be exhibited very rarely. This is the case with the monumental spatial installation "Ein Grad weniger im Turnus", which Klaus Rinke realised in 1977 as a contribution to documenta 6 in Kassel. Since 2022, this major work has been part of the collection of the Kunstmuseum Reutlingen | konkret. It consists of 91 large-format graphite drawings and was last on view at the Stiftung für konkrete Kunst in 1989. After a very long time, this monolithic installation is now being presented again, taking up the entire length of the gallery in the basement of the Wandel Halls.

The universal artist Klaus Rinke (born 1939) became known in the late 1960s with his "primary demonstrations" and has since taken part in countless international art exhibitions and biennials. For thirty years, Rinke was a professor of sculpture at the Düsseldorf Art Academy; today he lives and works in Los Angeles as well as in Neufelden (AT).
