Durlach was the main creative centre of the painter and graphic artist Alfred Siekiersky (1911-1991), who studied at the Baden State Art School under Karl Hubbuch and Wilhelm Schnarrenberger. Studying architecture in Berlin secured his later professional livelihood, but painting remained Siekiersky's greatest passion.
Motifs from all over Europe can be found in his oeuvre, but none appears more frequently than the artist's place of birth and residence. The exhibition is dedicated to the inspiration that Siekiersky found on his doorstep. The focus is on a donation to the Pfinzgau Museum, which can be seen here in its entirety for the first time. Siekiersky's works enter into a dialogue with his biography, which is supplemented with exciting photographs and objects.
