Hans Brasch - Discoveries

on the 50th anniversary of his death, pictures from his estate

Brasch tapped into the unspoilt landscape and the distant view of the Swiss Alps. Above all, however, he discovered the possibilities that watercolour painting offered him. In the exhibition at the Hans Thoma Art Museum, which is based on the Brasch estate in Bernau, we experience an artist who abandons the realistic position of Hans Thoma in favour of free painting and focuses on a lively, impulsive painting style. In this, the colours are of great importance. Shapes and colour choices give us a precise picture of the artist and his time: a real discovery.
