Goddesses of Art Nouveau

Exhibitions

Floral ornaments, earthy colors, landscapes populated by mythical creatures and mystical female figures, fantasy and esthetics meld in Art Nouveau in an enticing art world, which extends even to the areas of architecture, product design and creative arts. In its diversity, it reflects the „colorful [turbulent?] times” of the period in which it arose. Industrialization had a massive effect on society and the environment. New, radical life philosophies arise, the belief in progress collides with cultural pessimism. In this time of profound change, Art Nouveau rebels against the traditional and develops a completely new language of form in its place. „Goddesses of Art Nouveau“ is a cooperative project with the Allard Pierson Museum in Amsterdam and the Landesmuseum in Braunschweig.
