Eva Aeppli's Sentimental Museum

Original, independent and free-spirited, the Swiss artist Eva Aeppli has long remained in the shadow of her first husband Jean Tinguely and the New Realists. Although unclassifiable and singular, her production remains exceptional: her graphic works as well as her textile sculptures, large, long, human-sized mannequins, anchor her work in a strongly humanist and existentialist approach. During the past fifteen years, the artist who was a friend of Spoerri and Nikki de Saint-Phalle has been rediscovered and her decisive role rehabilitated in view of the significant influence she continues to exert on the contemporary scene. This retrospective, the first to be devoted to her in France, will echo the dualities that ran through her work and the differences between the two.
