Sergei Eisenstein, the mythical film director who personified the glory of Russian cinema, always placed himself at the crossroads of the arts. Man of the theatre and of literature, designer, passionate about archaeology and anthropology, he never stopped learning about the history of art. This exhibition offers a retrospective of his work in the light of the influence of this universal heritage. We can find the great films which made him well-known (The Battleship Potemkine, Ivan the Terrible, etc.), but also theatrical experiments, his drawings rich with symbols and his unfinished projects, which makes him the “Russian Leonardo da Vinci“.
