Exhibitions

The special exhibition in cooperation with the Roman-Germanic Museum in Cologne presents selected exhibits from late Antiquity in Mainz, which are supplemented by significant finds from the wider environs of Mainz.
These are juxtaposed with objects of the same period from Cologne to enable the visitor to make a direct comparison of the conditions in the two Germanic provincial capitals.
The exhibition covers the period from the end of the 3rd century (introduction of the tetrarchy) to the takeover and settlement of the region by the Merovingian Franks at the end of the 5th century.
