With his films, photographs and sculptures, Cyprien Gaillard
(*1980, Paris) highlights imminent transformations and refers to the continual process of destruction, conservation or reconstruction in urban space. He films archaeological ruins that have been reclaimed by nature or the flight of exotic birds over a European city in a state of flux and documents the creeping erosion of modernistic utopias, particularly in the form of the destruction of large building complexes. His work revolves around the clashing of diverse realities and time levels from which there finally emerges a harmonious entity of peculiar beauty.
