Crystal Magic - the Hidden Magic of Dark Tourmalines
For centuries, coloured tourmaline varieties such as rubellite, verdelite or indigolite have inspired people with their intense colours as collectors' items or gemstones. It was only discovered a few years ago that the more common black tourmaline type Schörl also becomes colourful when cut very thinly. In addition to their blaze of colour, this also reveals an impressive variety of structures. The exhibition presents fascinating, large-format photos and conveys the latest scientific findings on the growth of the crystals.
