The fascination of Emma Kunz (1892–1963) has never been greater than it is today. At the same venue where her work was discovered for art, the oeuvre of the Aargau researcher, healer and artist is now presented alongside contemporary artistic practises. The latter reflect on Kunz’ work or particular topics related to her field of activity.
Living a secluded life far removed from the art scene, Emma Kunz already exemplified eighty years ago what in today’s art is taken for granted: an expanded concept of art which rejects the question of art or non-art and, instead, incorporates a wide range of fields (of activity): research, medicine, nature, as well as the supernatural, magical, animistic and visionary.
The dialogue presented in the Exhibition examines the appeal of Emma Kunz works in the twenty-first century art.
