CHIHARU SHIOTA

Silent Word
Exhibitions
Chiharu Shiota
The internationally acclaimed artist Chiharu Shiota (*1972 in Osaka, Japan) has lived in Berlin since the late 1990s. In her art, she deals with universal themes. Chiharu Shiota designed one of her fascinating installations made of interwoven threads especially for the former high-bay warehouse of the SCHAUWERK Sindelfingen. In the centre of the 15-metre-high room are an empty chair and a bureau covered with white letters in various sizes. They float on black threads up to the ceiling and seem to develop a life of their own. The characters expand like a universe of thoughts and emotions that no one can hear: SILENT WORD is the title of the exhibition.
