"Bartholdi, Intimate Portrait of a Sculptor", Exhibition

inspired by some chapters from R. Belot's new book
Exhibitions

The exhibition is the result of research in collaboration with the historian Robert Belot for the publication of his latest book. The outstanding sculptor of the Statue of Liberty is rarely portrayed in such an intimate light.

A man who defended his innermost convictions to the extent of constructing a colossus on the other side of the ocean in order to honour a value: liberty. A man who experienced professional failures and terrible human tragedies. A strong, sensitive man, free and dedicated: a surprisingly likable man who deserves to be better known.

An original scenography and insights into the beliefs and the inner life of the sculptor are complemented by various objects from the museum's holdings that were bequeathed to the museum by the artist himself.
