Åsa Sonjasdotter

The Badischer Kunstverein shows a first comprehensive presentation of the artist and researcher Åsa Sonjasdotter. Sonjasdotter's practice is located on the threshold between artistic research, eco-feminism and activist-agricultural engagement. Through films, photographs, and archival materials, the artist shows how cultivating forgotten and now marginalized crops and close readings of archival materials (both dead and alive) make it possible to revive lost knowledge about the past and present. At several points in the exhibition, the artist invites visitors to bring their own seeds, to exchange them, or to continue cultivating the old varieties presented here.
