Alsace, 1918 - Life after the War

After the Armistice, Alsace found itself once again between two nationalities, with an in-between identity. The exhibition retraces the great historical events that unfolded at the end of the conflict such as the revolutionary riots in Strasbourg or the expulsion of the Germans who had settled there after 1871. Meanwhile, the daily life of civilians in Alsace was marked by grief, food shortage and a change of language at school. Numerous photos, objects and testimonies cast light on these various themes.

The exhibition aims at a better understanding of the often painful effects of these terrible years.
