Advertising Effect Pharma
From the collection to artistic engagement
The special exhibition "Advertising Effect Pharma" provides insights into a collection of pharmaceutical trade advertisements from the years 1960 to 1980, focusing on four thematic areas: fear, sleep, vitamins and contraception. The exhibition explores the extent to which social debates influence the pharmaceutical industry and vice versa.
Accompanying the exhibition are works by the Basel-based artist Raphael Widmer.
Inspired by an advertisement for the drug "Lexotanil", his works reflect relationships to fear as a pictorial as well as a social phenomenon.
