Since the 18th century, barrel organs have been present in public places and in the streets of European cities. They are seen as an expression of pleasure, offering variety in the monotonous everyday life of society, especially at fairs. On high festival days, the church square is transformed into a public entertainment venue where music, dance and acrobatics are offered for entertainment and the barrel organ is used in a variety of ways.

The special exhibition "Acrobats, Murder Stories, Song Enjoyment" is dedicated to fairground events and uses selected exhibits to show the diverse use of barrel organs as solo, accompanying and singing instruments in the context of entertainment, pleasure and amusement.
