Museum bar: Caricatures on the separation of cantons. The painter Ludwig A. Kelterborn
After years of research, Hans Kelterborn presents a comprehensive biography of his great-grandfather Ludwig Adam Kelterborn. In it, the author reconstructs the facets of an artist's life from the 19th century from over 250 letters and documents. At the museum bar, Hans Kelterborn focuses on the most important stations of the artist and teacher - among others of Arnold Böcklin - in a time of great political upheaval. He presents some of his great-grandfather's 40 or so political caricatures. These unique sheets were part of the collection of Daniel Burckhardt-Werthemann, former curator of the Öffentliche Kunstsammlung Basel. In 1950, they found their way into the Art History Collection of Archaeology and Museum Baselland.
