Plan des historischen Rastatt mit Festungsanlage
In the final phase of the Baden Revolution, Rastatt became the focal point of events: After the soldiers' uprising in May, a revolutionary army was formed, but soon had to retreat after initial successes. In June 1849, thousands of rebels fled to the fortress of Rastatt. Besieged by more than 10,000 Prussians, the fate of the German Revolution was finally decided here.
