Dancing into the afterlife - stories of illness and death

Guidance
HMB
The Basel Dance of Death was created at the time of the Council of Basel (1431-1448). Originally painted on the inside of the cemetery wall of the Preacher's Monastery, the 60-metre-long sequence of images depicted forty dead people from various classes. For centuries, people were more threatened by diseases and epidemics than we are here today.
